Palo Santo (Holy Wood)
1. Take one stick of palo santo and light it.
2. After burning through the core for about 10–30 seconds, gently wave it to put out the open flame (make sure to extinguish the flame completely!!!).
3. Once white smoke rises, place it in the incense burner for aromatherapy, purification and energy cleansing.
Notes:
1. Palo santo contains natural oils, so slight black smoke may appear when lit with an open flame — this is completely normal. White smoke will come out once the flame is put out. If you use an off-white incense burner, never place burning flames inside, as it will easily stain and blacken the surface.
2. Unlike ordinary wood, palo santo works purely with white smoke after the flame is extinguished. The white smoke will fade once the embers die down. You will need to repeat the lighting and extinguishing process, which itself is part of the healing ritual.
Herb Bundles (Sage / Cedar / Lavender, etc.)
1. Unwrap the herb bundle and take 3–5 leaves (adjust quantity according to the size of your space).
2. Light the leaves with a match, then gently swing the bundle to put out the flame. Once white smoke appears, place it in the incense burner and repeat the lighting process several times.
(Herbal botanicals do not burn continuously like scented candles. Their power lies in the purifying energy of the sacred smoke.)
